As testimony of iProperty.com having entrenched itself as a household name in Malaysia, the property portal was voted one of the top 10 digital media brands in Malaysia. What is surprising is that at No: 6 spot, it has overtaken established brand names such as Malaysiakini, Lowyat.net, Twitter and Youtube. Clearly, it’s an established fact that iProperty.com.my is the first thing that comes to mind when people think of buying or selling properties in Malaysia.
As expected, Facebook tops the rankings with its nearest rival, The Star Online trailing far behind. Of the top 10 in this year’s list, home-grown companies and local versions of global sites dominated – giving weight to the pull of localised content in an increasingly borderless world.
The results were announced in the November 2010 issue of the influential advertising + marketing magazine. Its annual survey which lists the top 10 Digital Media Company of the Year is aimed at documenting which digital media company client marketers in Malaysia would most likely use. For this year’s survey, Boardroom Research employed an online questionnaire and surveyed its database of marketers (client advertisers) and marketing services agency professionals.
The survey was sent to 4,897 people and received a response rate of approximately 5.9%. Out of the 289 valid responses, 194 were from the client advertiser side (67%) and 95 were from the agency side (33%). Advertisers from major and local international banks, FMCG companies, property developers, IT and telecommunications firms, government and travel and tourism participated in the survey while agency professionals across the marketing services spectrum were also well represented.
