The Wharf Hoarding Design Competition organised by Bolton Berhad at its Taman Tasik Prima township in Puchong saw five students from The One Academy emerge as the winning team.
The team, “Design Ninja” received a cash prize of RM5,000, an i-Pad for each member and a trophy.
A total of 14 teams from art and design colleges and universities in Malaysia took part in the design competition which was held at the actual project site of The Wharf.
The competition required participating teams to create and paint a design that would best reflect the essence of The Wharf and the competition theme of “Dream It, Build It, Live It”.
The winning design will be used to adorn the main road perimeter hoarding of the development site throughout the construction period.
Bolton executive director Chan Wing Kwong said the objective of the competition is to provide a platform for promoting art and showcasing young creative talents.
“I cannot think of a better way to liven up the area while at the same time generate a buzz in the community by turning something as mundane as a perimeter hoarding into a work of art. The hoarding may even become a landmark of sorts thanks to this creative masterpiece,” Chan added.
The Wharf is Taman Tasik Prima’s lakefront commercial development featuring a mix of residential, business, retail and leisure centre nestled around a 200-acre lake.
It is expected to be completed in 2015.
