Melaka will emulate Melbourne, Australia in implementing the green technology town programme by the year 2020, said chief minister Mohd Ali Rustam.
He said the state government would set up the Green Building Council similar to the one in Melbourne to supervise and monitor the use of the green technology for all buildings in the state.
The chief minister would chair the council and it would be officially launched soon.
"Under the council, there will be several categories such as rivers and beaches, open ground for buildings which would be given ratings by non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in terms of the use of green technology," he told reporters Thursday. - Bernama
