Sunway Holdings Bhd's pre-tax profit for the first quarter ended March 31, 2011 rose to RM51.49 million from RM50.36 million in the same period last year.
Revenue increased to RM572.49 million from RM501.68 million previously.
In a filing to Bursa Malaysia, Sunway said the revenue increase was mainly contributed by the construction division as well as the overseas trading and manufacturing divisions.
Sunway said it expected sustainable earnings from its construction, property development and trading and manufacturing divisions.
It said the construction division's total order book stood at RM2.4 billion, of which almost 70 per cent were local projects.
"The division is expected to ride on the return of large-scale projects under the Tenth Malaysia Plan and Economic Transformation Programme," it said. - Bernama
