Malaysia Property Incorporated property roadshow to tap into opportunities in affluent Indonesians
Nov 09, 2011
KUCHING: Malaysia Property Incorporated (MPI) will showcase real estate offerings from seven of Malaysia’s most established property developers during its upcoming property show at the Grand Hyatt Jakarta from November 12 to 13. The two-day event will showcase developments from Dijaya Corporation Bhd, 101 Properties Bhd and Land & General Bhd among others, tapping into the affluent Indonesians — a potentially lucrative major market for the Malaysian real estate industry.

According to MPI in a statement, the event will be hosted in association with Property Talk International and will serve as a platform to provide attendees with an overview of the properties available for investment. It would also be a platform for them to learn about the education opportunities in Malaysia and also the benefits of Malaysia My Second Home programme. With affluent Indonesians on the rise, the country’s property investors were increasingly looking outwards.

As a neighbouring country, Malaysia is also strategically located for Indonesians to purchase a property for the children’s pursuing education here, a holiday home for medical travel and various reasons.

“On the business front, on the back of the Malaysia government’s ambitious Economic Transformation Programme, Indonesian entrepreneurs are also showing renewed interest and confidence in investing in various sectors such as medical and health services, banking, construction, housing, real estate and transportation,” MPI explained.

As an initiative by Malaysia to be the first port-of-call for information related to real estate investment, MPI is always on the lookout to help secure foreign investment opportunities in Malaysia. MPI chief executive officer, Kumar Tharmalingam said, “Indonesia represents one of Malaysia’s top markets and MPI has been stepping up efforts to engage these affluent Indonesian investors.

“There has always been considerable interest from Indonesians, especially the Indonesian Chinese, to tap on opportunities in Malaysia.” However, he noted that a lack understanding of the country had previously limited the volume of investments going into the country. This two-day event will represent an avenue to provide more detailed information and assistance to potential investors.
