Marked Increase In House Prices Says Kedah BN Youth Chief
Nov 14, 2011
ALOR SETAR, Nov 11-There has been a marked increase in house prices in Kedah, especially in the city, during the past three years due to policy changes by the Pas government, said Kedah Barisan Nasional Youth chief Badrulhisham Hashim here, Friday.

Badrulhisham who is also the state's Umno youth chief said a study by the Alor Setar MCA youth task force found a 20 percent increase year on year since 2009, he said at the Alor Setar MCA office.

He noted that the average price of a two-storey terrace house in 2008 increased from RM180,000 to RM220,000 in 2009 and up to RM260,000 last year and RM320,000 this year.

The Kedah Pas government amended the housing allocation quota from the 30:70 Bumiputra to Non Bumiputra ratio to a 50:50 ratio for all private development in 2008 and placed further restrictions on land use transfers, he added.

Alor Setar MCA youth, task force chief Tan Chee Hiong alleged that they received information of 100 housing projects estimated at RM1 billion meant for Exco approval ending up not being discussed or minuted.-BERNAMA
