BERJAYA Corp Bhd (BCorp) founder and chairman Tan Sri Vincent Tan Chee Yioun was conferred the BrandLaureate Man of the Year for his visionary approach and stalwart determination that led to the worldwide expansion of the group, at the Brand Icon Leadership Awards 2011 recently.
Tan was also recognised for his achievements in transforming the group into one of the largest conglomerates in the country.
7-Eleven Malaysia Sdn Bhd executive director Tan U-Ming, who received the award on behalf of his father, said the award elevates Berjaya’s image as a brand.
“My father is thankful and pleased to be awarded this prestigious award, especially alongside other notable people today,” he said, referring to the other BrandLaureate award recipients.
BCorp has businesses worth over RM20 billion worldwide, with diversified interests across various sectors such as consumer marketing, financial services, property, food and beverage as well as investment holdings.
Among the other award recipients was former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who was conferred the BrandLaureate Legendary Award 2011 for his contributions that have profoundly impacted the Malaysian society.
The Woman of the Year Award went to K&N Kenanga Bhd non-executive chairman Tengku Noor Zakiah Tengku Ismail in recognition of her pioneering and innovative spirit that turned vision into reality.-The Sun
