Low-Cost House Buyers Claim Cheated, Lodge
Jan 16, 2012
MACC Report PUTRAJAYA, Jan 12 (Bernama) -- Twelve out of 650 buyers who claimed to be cheated into buying low-cost houses in Selangor lodged a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Thursday.

However, only three of them were allowed to enter the MACC headquarters building here to lodge the report on behalf of the others. In the report, the buyers claimed that they had been cheated by a man claiming to be a special officer of Selangor Menteri Besar into paying a five percent deposit of RM2,100 each to purchase a low-cost house in Taman Botani Klang, Taman Selayang Mulia, Taman Harmoni Balakong and Taman Intan Cheras using his 'political quota'.

However, no feedback was ever received by the buyers pertaining to the purchase. One of the buyers, Azlan Lam, 37, said he wanted to see justice done and hoped that the case would be investigated thoroughly by the MACC. "This is important because we already paid the deposit for the house. So, we really hope that the MACC can do something about this," he said.

Another buyer, Mohamed Durany Izam, 29, hoped that the MACC would also investigate the Menteri Besar's Office, as well as the Selangor Housing and Property Board, to give justice to the victims. "We hope that the MACC will get to the bottom of the case because most of us are poor people.

We also hope that the state government will be responsible on this issue," he said. Meanwhile, the chairman of Gabungan Anti Penyelewengan Selangor (GAPS) or the Selangor Anti-Irregularities Coalition, Hamidzun Khairuddin, who was also present at the MACC headquarters, said the GAPS was there to support the buyers and that it really hoped the MACC would probe into the case soon. -- BERNAMA
