After recently announcing plans to open a Cititel Express in Penang and Sabah as well as IGB Corp Bhd’s recent hotel launch in Kuala Lumpur, the company has submitted a tender to build a three- or four-star hotel in Sydney, Australia.

According to IGB group managing director Robert C.M. Tan, the proposed date of operations of the hotel has not been decided and is pending on a reply from the authorities there. Its hotel division is also on the lookout for other assets in Australia.

Tan said that IGB is interested in expanding its hotel properties to emerging markets in Asia as well as Eastern Europe.

For now, the company has several hotels overseas, including St Giles Hotel in London and Heathrow, MiCasa All-Suite Hotel in Yangon, New World Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, and St Giles Manila.
