Malaysian Resources Corp Bhd (MRCB) hopes to launch a billion-ringgit real estate investment trust (REIT) comprised of commercial properties at KL Sentral in five years.
Assets that may be injected into the REIT include Plaza Sentral 1 & 2 and office towers.
Group managing director Shahril Ridza Ridzuan said, "A REIT will happen when our properties mature. It takes about three years for the buildings to come up and rentals to roll in."
He also added that the RM8.3 billion KL Sentral is expected to contribute some 50% to the group's revenue this year.
