The Malaysian Property Expo (Mapex) 2007 was officiated by Minister of Housing and Local Government Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting earlier today at the Mid Valley Exhibition Centre.

The expo is the second in the Klang Valley Mapex series for this year, showcasing more than 60 developers displaying a total of 8,811 units worth RM3.79 million.

Developers such as IJM Properties Sdn Bhd, Tan & Tan Developments Bhd, SP Setia Bhd and Island & Peninsular Bhd are among some of the well-known players showcasing their wide array of products with the central theme of "healthy lifestyles" - acknowledging the growing number of discerning buyers in the market.

Real Estate Housing and Developers' Association president Ng Seing Liong said, "The theme is most appropriate as buyers today do not only buy houses for a roof above their heads. Many buyers today are buying into a lifestyle through their house purchase."

He added that, "Demand for lifestyle housing will not only benefit buyers of such schemes but the spill over effect in terms of provision of better infrastructure, better sports and recreational facilities, cleaner and greener environment will also be enjoyed by the general community."

With the number of government incentives, Ng said the housing and property industry is entering into a new era where professionalism, quality consciousnes, efficiency an customer services are but some key features.
